Youth sport is often measured by games and scores - yet the most meaningful development happens earlier, in the years when confidence, discipline, and identity begin to take shape.
The Making Years is a creative studio project developed in Calgary, Alberta, focused on youth football athletes connected to NFL Flag Football Calgary and Calgary Stampeders-affiliated youth tackle football programs.
Designed as a guided studio shoot - not a media day or live event - the project created intentional space for athletes to be seen beyond competition.
Rather than documenting gameplay, the project centers on presence, self-belief, and the personal growth that supports long-term athlete development.
The Making Years also reflects the broader youth football ecosystem in Calgary, including the role of NFL Flag Football Calgary as a key entry point into the sport and the development pathways that extend into Calgary Stampeders-affiliated tackle football programs.
NFL Flag Football Calgary supports youth athletes through accessible, community-based flag football programs that prioritize skill development, teamwork, and positive sport experiences. These programs help establish strong foundations that support progression across football environments while maintaining a focus on inclusion and long-term participation.
